Laurie Simmons' Films

I used to be a huuuuuuge fan of Laurie Simmons' films.

She is a photographer and filmmaker who often stages scenes with paper dolls, dummies, and puppets. Most of her work is about the depiction of women and and suburbia in today's society.

Her photos are great, but for me, her films on suburbia are where it's at. I hadn't thought about her films in awhile but was reminded of them as I was going through an old sketchbook that had her name written at the top of one of the pages.
